Freshman Scholarships

Graduating in the top 50% of your class?

Presidential Plus Scholarship ($19,480)

  • Highly Competitive
  • $10,000 tuition / $9480 housing
  • 4 year scholarship
  • Top 10% of graduating class
  • Must reside outside Midland / Ector County
  • Scholarship Nomination Form

Presidential Scholarship ($10,000)

  • Highly Competitive
  • $10,000 tuition
  • 4 year scholarship
  • Top 10% of graduating class
  • Midland / Ector County residents
  • Scholarship Nomination Form

Freshman Merit ($4,000)

  • Very Competitive (SAT or ACT scores)
  • First quarter of graduating class
  • 2 year scholarship
  • No scholarship application required

Freshman Grant ($2,000)

  • Admitted with no conditions
  • Second quarter of graduating class
  • SAT (900 or higher) and ACT (19 or higher)***
  • 1 year scholarship
  • No scholarship application required

Matching Community Scholarship

  • UTPB will match up to $1,000 of a community-based scholarship up to the tuition and fees.

Requirements

Each UTPB student applicant is automatically considered for all scholarships, except the Presidential & Presidential Plus scholarship. No application is required for the Freshman Merit, Freshman Grant, Matching Community, or the Housing Scholarship

To be awarded any of these scholarships, we must have on file :

  1. A completed freshman application
  2. An official high school transcript
  3. SAT or ACT scores (either sent directly to the university or posted on the official high school transcript)
  4. Proof of having passed TAAS/TAKS - noted on high school transcript
  5. Return signed Acceptance of Award form within time noted in award letter

*** SAT - Only combination of math and critical reading sections taken.

Transfer Scholarships

Transfer Excellence Scholarship Award ($3000 /year)

  • Meet regular admission requirements as a transfer student
  • 30 hours or more of transferable college work with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average
  • No Scholarship Application Required

Transfer Spur Scholarship Award ($1000 /year)

  • Meet regular admission requirements as a transfer student
  • 30 hours or more of transferable course work with a 2.50 to 2.99 cumulative grade point average
  • No Scholarship Application Required
