Childcare Center

The UTPB Child Care Center was established in August of 2010 in order to serve the needs of UTPB students. It is located on the North Side of the Student Activity Center (SAC) and faces the gym parking lot. Originally founded as part of the SAC, the child care received additional funding from the James A. "Buddy" Davidson Foundation of Midland, Texas. These funds support the playground, kitchen, and student scholarships for the center. Faculty and staff may use the Child Care Center for their children. UTPB Child Care Center operates under the Minimum Standards and Guidelnes of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services for Licensed Child Care Centers. The center is licensed to accommodate children from 18 months to 5 years and the center capacity is 35 children.

Our Staff

All of our staff has been carefully selected and they participate in yearly training. This training includes topics such as leadership, child development, positive discipline and team ethics.

Activities

A child's growth and development is viewed as a process, not an event. Development begins when a child is conceived and continues throughout life. With this in mind, we provide a range of activities designed to meet the needs of each child as his or her level of development. It is our responsibility to select activities to provide a balanced program of early childhood development. The center uses the Creative Curriculum which is a comprehensive educational system. It promotes the use of interest areas as way of providing experiences that promote cognitive, social, physical, and language development. Children also enjoy outdoor activities and the playground.
