The Mission of The University of Texas of the Permian Basin Student Senate is to actively represent the student body in any area of concern appropriate to develop and sustain wellness in Academic, Intellectual, Occupational, Physical, and Social endeavors related to University and Community affairs. Every Senate Meeting is open to any student, staff or faculty wishing to attend.
Student Senate past accomplishments include:
- Student Union referendum and recommendations
- Establishment of December commencement ceremonies
- Implementation of Latin honors for graduates
- Survey of day care needs
- Community awareness programs
- Implentation of a dead day before finals
Student Senators for 2008-2009
The Student Senate currently has 5 open seats for the Spring of 2009. The open Seats are as follows: (1) Behavioral Science Seat, (1) Education Seat, (1) Humanities & Fine Arts Seat, (1) Math & Science Seat, and (1) Junior Seat.

Class Senators are elected by the student body each Fall while Executive Officers and Academic Senators are elected in the Spring.
